Kris decided some time ago that he was going to do whatever it took to make his break so he started saving every cent he could. Kris has been turned down for just about everything he’s auditioned for and he doesn’t really expect this one to do much better until he meets the famous casting director Zayn Mason.
Zayn is not only immediately attracted to Kris but he’s stunned at how well Kris portrays the character he’s reading for. Zayn decides Kris is perfect for the part until the producer recognises Kris as a porn star and won’t touch him with a ten-foot barge pole! The more Zayn gets to know Kris the more he believes he can help him make the transition so, he makes a few calls to get a few auditions for Kris.
Kris can’t quite believe Zayn is helping him out of the goodness of his heart, he must want something, right? It takes a while for Kris to believe that yes, Zayn does want to have sex with him but he won’t because getting Kris’s acting career off the ground is far more important to him right now. Kris is shocked when most of Zayn’s friends say yes after hearing him read for them. Of course the first movie isn’t much, it’s a little horror movie but it’s a step in the right direction.
So starts Kris’s “real” acting career.
Things almost come unstuck for Kris when Zayn’s ex-boyfriend becomes aware of the relationship that has developed between Kris and Zayn and he decides to pin together a collage of Kris’s current movie with his porn movies. Luckily for Kris he’s too good an actor for the producer to say no. When the hubbub dies down about Kris and him being an ex-porn star he has a chance to read for an incredible part that once again the producer vetoes him for the starring role when everyone else wants him.
This is how Kris gets his name the Wild Card. He is the wild card in these movies because everyone is taking a gamble weather anyone will even watch a movie with an ex-porn star in a straight role. Then there’s the relationship between Kris and Zayn that Zayn declared wasn’t ever going to happen. Between them both Kris and Zayn have a lot of baggage and unfinished business to sort out, so it’s a good thing they decided to work on their relationship while they were going!
The Wild Card is all about hope and determination. If you have enough of them both you will generally always succeed! I you want to read an uplifting story about someone who deserves to win actually winning, this is the book for you.

Kris longs to be an actor outside of skin flicks, and he's in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. He began acting in porn to pay the bills, and now no one will hire him, no matter how many casting calls he makes or how good of an actor he may be... until he meets a casting director who is willing to give him a chance.
After getting a callback, Kris has never gotten this far in the industry. Even with the casting director on his side, he can't get past the producer who has turned him down time after time. Zayn (the casting director) won't give up on Kris, and takes him under his wing as his personal pet project, while trying to ignore the heat building between them.
First impressions are everything. The lust is instantaneous between the two, both fantasizing about the other after a few minutes of interaction. Both already longing for more than they have been living, and wondering if the other could give them what they need.
Wild Card is a sweet, fluffy story which will no doubt please many of a MM romance reader, with a grittier underlying storyline of the pitfalls of the porn industry and how it follows you even after you leave it behind. Both characters have a compelling backstory. Added to that is a pooch, and any book with a dog is a winner in my opinion.
Truth be told, I never connected with either Kris or Zayn, and that's on me, not the author. I read the book but never delved too deeply into it to get emotionally involved. I personally need a buildup, where the reader learns about the characters as they learn about one another. But with Kris and Zayn already feeling forevers upon meeting one another, even if they didn't admit it to the other, I was emotionally distanced. The flow of the dialogue wasn't to my tastes, not quite flowing naturally.
Simply put, I was not the intended audience of Wild Card, and no doubt its audience won't be able to get enough of Kris & Zayn.
